Keyboarding 9 Practice increasing our typing speed. Continue new learning on MS Word Menu bar.
Financial Math Topic will include Renting a Vehicle, Mortgage Loans, and Monthly Payment and Total Interest on buying a home.
Math 7 Finishing up Topic on Percent using our textbooks, worksheets, Glencoe Online, AAA Math and VMath websites.

Grade 3:
ELA- 3rd grade and 4th grade are reading Because of Winn Dixie. They will be working on pronoun-verb agreement.
Math- Practice multiplication facts everynight. The third grade is work on division with no remainders. Fourth grade is working on improper fractions and mixed numbers.
Science- We are finishing up our unit on weather and climate and next week will start a unit on matter. Reviewing for the NYS Science test.
Social Studies- Starting chapter on Our Local Government.
Grade 6:
ELA: prepositional phrases, object pronouns in prepositional phrases and an introduction to determining the difference between an adverb and a preposition.
ELA writing: finishing poems and a descriptive writing on Wednesday using prepositions
Math: Lesson 8.5 Sales tax and discount and lesson 8.6 Simple interest
Also, they will have the study guide and review questions for chapter 8 and a chapter test on Friday
Reading: Read "Alexander the Great" and answer practice book pages 202-206 with a test on the excerpt on Friday
Social Studies: Chapter 9 review on pages 300 and 301, questions 1-20 and outline notes from section 2. There will be a chapter test on Thursday.
Science: We are doing a radiation lab today and reading section 1.3 and doing questions 1-6 on page 25. There will be a quiz tomorrow on sections one and two. Thursday, we will read section 1.4 and answer the review questions 1-6 on page 33. We will outline the notes from sections 1.3 and 1.4 on Friday. There will be a chapter test next Wednesday, April 30th.

Elementary General Music (Grades Pre-K-2) will be learning about the composer Lizst. They will watch a video about his Rhapsody during their first lesson this week and do various listening activities during their second lesson.
3-6 General Music will continue working on composing a "soundtrack" to a short story and rehearse their composition.
3-6 Chorus will continue working on songs for the concert.
4-6 Band will continue working on songs for the concert.
7-8 Chorus will continue working on songs for the concert.
7-12 Band will start working on marching band on Monday and will prepare concert pieces on Wednesday.
9-12 Chorus will continue working on songs for the concert.
Jazz Band will continue working on songs for the concert.
Social Studies:
7th -8th Grade Intermediate US History
We are finishing up Chapter 9 with a test on Wednesday (23rd). We will begin the era of Thomas Jefferson begining Thursday and continuing through next week. A reminder, the Skidmore Trip is on next Tuesday and we leave for Boston next Thursday afternoon.
9th Grade Global Studies I
We are begining the Renaisance and Reformation and will continue through next week with a test scheduled for the middle to end of next week.
10th Grade Global Studies
We are finishing up the Cold War and how it divided the world between Democratic and Communist Forces. By Friday we will be discussing the break-up of the Soviet Union and the Eastern European Bloc. Test scheduled for the middle of next week.
11th Grade US History + Government
We are studing the Great Depression and will complete it this week and move on to the US involvement in World War II by Friday.
12th Grade Economics
We are studing consumer sovereignty and the invisible hand of consumer persuasion. We will delve into advertisements and promotion through out the week.
Technology:
Construction: Chapters 35 Molding and Trim
Students should be able to; Identify uses of molding and trim other than decoration. Tell which joints are used for molding and trim and why. Identify different types of molding and trim. Tell how too scribe molding and trim to an uneven surface. Explain how to cut a coped joint. .
This week’s activities will involve the students engaging in the construction of a shed that they set out to build for a community member. At this point the two side-walls are framed. Laying of the skids (foundation) has been accomplished. Layout and framing of the floor deck is underway. The two long walls should be placed and temporarily braced. The gable walls should also begin to take shape this week.
Eighth Grade Introduction to Technology
8th grade Intro to Technology – Teacher generated textbook: Design techniques; sketching, orthographic and isometric drafting.
This week the students will be engaged in using the design process to create an individualized wooden clock housing. To date students have completed the orthographic drawings, as well as the CADD drawings of their wooden clock housings. All students are now engaged in the physical construction of their clock housings. Safety lessons are given as equipment and/or tools are needed.
Principles of Engineering Chapter 18: Managing Construction
Students should be able to; Identify the responsibilities of a contractor. Explain how the amount of a construction bid is figured. Describe the three types of schedules. List the three main concerns of inspectors when monitoring construction.
This week the students are involved in an activity in which they will individually research and design a balsa or basswood bridge, while constantly striving to create the most efficient bridge design. Constraints such as dimensions, weight, time will need to be considered for this activity.
CADD I & II (1st Semester- CADD I, 2nd Semester – CADD II)
Students utilize Chief Architect-11TM software to design and draw virtual residential and commercial buildings. Students are presently drawing their personal rendition of a house they would actually like to build as their future home. This house must include furnishings, appliances, electrical wiring, outside terrain features, and many more items that would compliment the dwelling.
