ABOUT OUR LIBRARIES

MISSION STATEMENT

The primary purpose of our elementary and high school libraries is to provide access to the resources which enable students to locate, evaluate, apply and synthesize information as well as to locate pleasure reading. We provide supportive environments for students, faculty and staff utilizing a wide variety of resources that include local holdings as well as Internet-based databases and access to interlibrary loan. As an Electronic Doorway Library, we are able to extend our libraries far beyond their walls thus providing our students with the ingredients for success as lifelong learners.

CIRCULATION PROCEDURES

Books may be borrowed for two weeks and may be renewed unless there is a holding request for the title. Reference books and magazines do not circulate but may be used in the library. Overdue notices are routinely generated.

Students are responsible for all materials borrowed including interlibrary loan items borrowed from outside the district. Payment must be made for lost or damaged items.

Generally, only 3 to 5 books may be borrowed at a time. However, this may be negotiated with the librarian, especially when a major research project is underway.

INTERLIBRARY LOANS

ABOUT
We are a member of the Franklin-Essex-Hamilton School Library System. Our holdings as well as the holdings of 304 other libraries are included in the ICEPAC catalog available at icepac.net. Libraries include all school, public, college and special libraries in Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Jefferson, Lewis, Oswego, and St. Lawrence counties as well as Long Lake Central School. Patrons may order titles directly.

ICICILL may be accessed from any computer which has Internet access. All requests are passed through the home library first for approval as all loans must begin and end at the borrower/lender libraries. Loans are usually 30 days from date of request. In most cases, renewals will be granted if requested before the due date. Fees for lost or damaged books are the responsibility of the patron. If this process is abused by a patron, requests will be denied.
