Membership in the National Honor Society is both an honor and a responsibility. Students selected for membership are expected to continue to demonstrate the qualities of scholarship, service, leadership and character by which they were selected. Students who resign or are dismissed from the NHS are never again eligible for membership.

Membership is open to qualified sophomores, juniors and seniors.

The selection criteria is as follows:

    1. The Guidance Office generates a list of eligible students at the end of each marking period. This list contains the names of students who have achieved an 85% or better for at least three consecutive marking periods. From this list, the names of students who have a cumulative GPA of 85% or higher, are forwarded to the Faculty Selection Committee and the faculty at large.
    2. The Advisor, who is a non-voting member of the Selection Committee, presents written and verbal comments to the Committee. Students are rated in the areas of character, leadership and service.
The Advisor will contact those students and request that a Student Activity Information Form and a student essay be completed and returned. These forms will be used in the selection process. Students should remember that these forms are not applications for membership and review of information gathered does not guarantee selection.
