Music History and Appreciation, 1 unit
Objectives:

To perpetuate an enjoyment of music that will carry over into adult life.

To become aware of music as a cultural heritage and to cultivate a taste for it’s various styles and forms.

To make listening a more meaningful, relevant and satisfying activity by developing a historical dimension and orientation in music.

Study of historical periods of music from ancient to 20th century using listening and visual analyzation.

Create ability to identify general as well as specific thematic material; instrumentation and voicing; tonalities and atonalities, compositional devices and form; terms and basic musical elements.
